I also had a brief stint as a game critic, and I'm hoping to get back into it soon.
I can’t help but feel disconnected when it comes to the English Government’s Political affairs. I know more about what is going on in America than our tiny little island. I don’t think this comes from laziness or turning a blind eye, but from the lack of an accessible method of gaining knowledge from what is happening in the house of commons.
For instance, a MP is trying to get everyone in the UK’s emails checked, and scrutinized because of “a potential threat” to our Government. This isn’t what people expect it to be, it’s not here to control the newest generation people in our country, it’s because we’re are in such a bad state. We’re more focused on what Billy and Sarah are emailing each other, instead of the current war in Iraq. Admittedly we are pulling out of the war and taking much more of an adviser role.
If we had, for instance, a TV show similar to ‘The Daily Show’ many more people would be aware of every development in our society, and be able to actively take part in what happens to our country. Not leaving it up to 50 year old out of touch pensioners who need to keep everything as restrained as possible. Half of the people in The House of Commons are so out of touch, they are completely ignorant towards other peoples cultures, such as the Burka.
tl;dr: I fucking hate how this country is run, can’t wait to move to Norway.
